My float fishing

You do not need a boat and engine for a two- or three-digit amount of a thousand kroner to get to the fish. Much less can do it. The angler’s swim is the solution. In recent years, various one-man vessels have become popular – especially among fly fishermen. There are inflatable or collapsible mini-boats, which are far more affordable than ordinary small boats.

Couch Fishing

The floating fishery is by no means new to me … But I’ve made as much of it as I should …
I’ve had some different rings but have now finished and have a GuideLine Drifter. Guideline Drifter is one of the market’s best deals. In fact, one is so tall in that it could be a middle between a normal float and a pontoon boat. The powerful pontoon-shaped elements make the boat highly manoeuvrable and easy to move forward. Drifter has 2 pontoon shaped elements. The boat is made of a powerful 1000 denier nylon. It has 2 special air valves that allow the boat to be emptied or filled with air in just a few minutes. A manoeuvrable vessel where the seating comfort is total in order, almost like sitting at the couch.

The float is a small revolution

Fishing places, which were just outside of the throwing team, are easily covered by the float. For example, the bog can be thrown between the reeds where the goats like to stay. Along the coast, a hundred yards from the shore, cod oats can be picked up from several meters deep on the fly. In the lake, the trout rings so close to the fluctuation that it can be difficult to get enough distance to throw them. The noise is easy to use and cheap in procurement.

Equipment and safety

Equipment is recommended to have an anchor, waders  or a self-inflatable life jacket, compass, floating swimsuit, mobile phone or any kind of communication equipment, pump and lace gear, as well as a lot of common sense, one should also tie a form of safety line firmly, to the bone and down to the Finns in the event that this should jump off and disappear … I’m easy and “sail” a flow with only 1 finn …

Hold on the heat

Fishing from floating can at times be a cold pleasure. You are sitting in the water for hours and therefore constantly lose body heat. You should therefore be very aware that you can face a dangerous undercooling of the body.
This cooling takes place slowly and unmistakably if you are not aware. Finally, you can be so chilled that you can no longer think clearly and react as you should in an emergency. And then you can become the statistics’s next victim of the drowning.
The best insurance against undercooling is the use of a pair of hot waders. . During the winter months you will be further protected by thermo underwear or a form of wool underwear at the bottom of the body. You must also make sure that the waders are far up in the back – right up to the armpits. You are sitting in a float and are even waders too short in the back, you can easily get water here!
Do you remember these things and if you comply with all of these precautions, the floating angler offers great opportunities

A fly that has been good for me in the float is pink opossum fly as I have previously mentioned in one of my other posts … it is especially super efficient here in the winter …. see it here
